  • Impact Study on Youth Financial Literacy Training (YFLT)

YFLT enhances an ability of youth to make informed decisions regarding money – plays a critical role in supporting both the well – being of households and the stability of the financial system if youth have access to safe and affordable savings products, then they can build assets into adulthood, cushion against shocks to their livelihood or household needs, and increase their long-term thinking, planning, and self-reliance. With this hypothesis, Mercy Crops provided school youths with financial literacy training in three mountain and hill districts Panchthar, Taplejung, and Sankhuwasabha through selected schools. Paribartan conducted this impact study in partnership with Mercy Corps Nepal in September-November, 2019. The overall objectives of this study were to:

    • assess the relevancy of the youth financial literacy training curriculum and training delivery
    • the approach in the rural context of Nepal,
    • assess the effectiveness of the YFLT,
    • assess the YFLT impact in the lives of the participants and financial institutions, and
    • Recommend areas for improvement for future implementation.

The study findings may be accessed directly from Mercy Corps Nepal
